      The Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama (NPAA) will hold its 18th Annual Advanced Nursing Practice Conference on November 8-9, 2024 at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel in Birmingham, AL. 

      NPAA cordially invites you to submit an abstract in evidence-based practice to be considered for a podium presentation at the 2024 conference.  Please note that presentations should include best practices in advanced nursing practice and include updates in pharmacological treatment and advances related to the topic. Scholarly projects, original research, and quality improvement projects with outcome data are also of interest to the panel. 

      GENERAL INFORMATION Submission Deadline 

      Materials must be received by NPAA by May 1, 2024
      Submission Format:
      All abstract packets are to be submitted to the NPAA Conference Program Committee by uploading the following documents:

      Abstract packets should include: 

      1.)  A word document with 
      a.     Title of Presentation
      b.     3 learning objectives (at least one objective should focus on Pharmacology).
       c. Short Paragraph describing content 
      d. Presenter's name(s) (limited to two), credentials, contact information, and a brief bio (3-5 sentences), citing the educational background, work history, and expertise in the content area. 
    • 2.) Head shot photo.

      3.) The two fillable ALBON pdf forms (i.e., Course and Instructor information).

  • Abstract Selection and Notification 


    The Program Committee will meet to select abstracts and to finalize the conference program. For each podium abstract accepted, the Program Committee will assign the time and date of presentation on the conference schedule. 


    If your abstract is accepted for presentation, you will be notified by email on or around May 15, 2023, of your presentation date and time. This notice will be sent to the contact person for each abstract and to the presenting author of each individual podium session. If the abstract has more than one author, the contact person is asked to share the information with the other author(s). (See section on “Information after Abstracts Are Selected” below for more details about procedures following the selection process.) 


    Conference Registration 

    Podium presenter will receive one half-off complimentary registration to the conference (for one presenter only). If the primary author is unable to attend the conference and has made arrangements for someone else to present, notification of a substitute presenter must be made by August 1, 2024. 


    Selection Criteria (Preference will be given to NPAA members) 

    Abstracts should reflect or include: 

    • Presentations highlighting pharmacological interventions 
    • Practice problem, purposes/aims, disease process/background 
    • Assessment, current treatment including pharmacological treatment and advances 
    • Outcomes achieved/documented, and patient evaluation 
    • Conclusions, emphasizing implications for clinical or educational practices

    • Acute Care/Emergency Medicine
    • Cardiology
    • Pediatrics
    • Mental Health 
    • Endocrinology 
    • Dermatology
    • Pharmacology
    • Legislative
    • Legal/Best Practices


    Information After Abstracts Are Selected: 


    Presentations

    Podium: In general, each abstract in a podium session is allotted 50 minutes for presentation, with 5 minutes for audience questions. Presentations will occur in the order they appear in the program. 


    Commitment

    Each contact person will be notified about the Program Committee’s decision on the acceptance of an abstract. Each author is asked to accept the invitation to present by responding to the email invitation within 10 days. We ask that presenters take their commitment to present very seriously, except in true emergencies.
