January Virtual CE Event: "Heart Failure Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments" by Mary Payton Davis, PA-C
January’s Virtual CE Webinar discusses utilizing ultrasound technology for diagnosing in the emergency and critical care setting. Register today for this great educational topic!
"RUSH hour, life in the EFAST lane: Implementing POCUS in clinical practice" by Somali Nguyen will be held via zoom on January 18, 2025 at 9 am. Ultrasound is a critical tool in emergency and critical care settings, particularly for protocols like EFAST, RUSH, and symptom-specific POCUS. The Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (EFAST) is used to quickly identify life-threatening conditions such as hemoperitoneum, pneumothorax, and cardiac tamponade in trauma patients. The Rapid Ultrasound for Shock and Hypotension (RUSH) protocol is designed to evaluate patients with undifferentiated shock by assessing the heart, inferior vena cava, Morison’s pouch, aorta, and lungs to determine the underlying cause of hypotension. Symptom-specific Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) allows clinicians to tailor their ultrasound examination based on the patient’s presenting symptoms, such as using ultrasound to evaluate abdominal pain, detect deep vein thrombosis, or assess cardiac function. These ultrasound protocols enhance diagnostic accuracy, expedite treatment decisions, and improve patient outcomes in critical situations.
